SCHOLARSHIPS AND FINANCIAL AID
Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid
Offers financial aid counseling and loads of information to support you in figuring out how to fund your education, including the U's scholarship application.
FAFSA (Federal Application for Student Aid)
Submit a FAFSA to learn if you’re eligible for federal, state, or institutional grants, Work Study funds, and federal subsidized and unsubsidized loans. Many scholarships also require you to have a FAFSA on file.

Bill Rishel Loan
Up to $2,500 available annually. Interest is 5% fixed and does not accumulate until one year after graduation. Loan repayment begins one year after graduation.

Emergency Funds
U of U Emergency Fund
If you are experiencing an emergency situation and are in need of financial assistance, please complete the application linked below.
The following are possible expenses for the emergency funds:
- tuition or fees,
- room and board,
- textbooks or required supplies/materials for classes,
- transportation,
- child care,
- and unexpected expenses, including COVID-19 related expenses.

(WRC) Emergency Funds
Offers small grants to students who are in danger of discontinuing their education based on a small financial shortfall. Drop by the WRC in Union 411 for an application.
LGBTQ+ Resource
Center Emergency Funds
U of U students can apply for up to $300 in emergency funds toward any matter that
is getting in the way of their academics. (Find link to application at bottom right
of their
web page.)
ASUU Emergency Loan
Offers small loans to U of U students. Repayment is required within the following
